Georgia became the 4th state in the Union on January 2nd, 1788.

Georgia Offers: Legislative Referrals, Constitutional Conventions and Recalls.

Signature Requirements:

  • Local Legislative Referral: 15% to 25% of the registered electors.
  • Recalls: 15% of the voters who voted for the office of the incumbent in the last election.
  • Deadline: 90 Days

Most cities in Georgia have the right to citizen initiatives and referenda. The General Assembly of the Charter Cities can put forward voters initiatives and referenda, Article X of the Georgia Constitution provides 2 methods for the amending the Constitution: Legislative Referral and Constitutional Convention. Legislative Referrals or Constitutional Conventions require 2/3rds of the Legislators Vote. Constitutional Conventions create new Amendments that only pass if approved by the voters.

Article II, Section II, Paragraph 4 provides the Georgian Citizens the right to Recall.
