Rhode Island Offers: Recall, Local Initiatives and Referenda.

Signature Requirements:

  • Recalls – 15% of the votes cast for Governor in the district of the incumbent to be recalled.
  • Local I&R – Signature amounts vary by the city
  • Deadlines: Recalls – 90 days

Article 4 Section 1 of the Rhode Island Constitution allows citizens the right to Recall.

Article XIII of the Rhode Island Constitution allows citizens the right to Charter Amendments.

The amount of signatures needed to qualify I&R varies.

I&R is available in 8 cities: Providence, Warwick, Cranston, Pawtucket, East Providence, Woonsocket, Newport, and Central Falls.
